Scumrun 2022 round up
News June 8, 2022 Scumrun Team
After a planned year out in 2020 due to Brexit, and an unplanned year out in 2021 due to Covid-19, Scumrun returned in 2022. This year’s event was a slightly different format, travelling to Ireland raising much needed funds for Chums charity. Chums supports children and families with mental health which has become increasingly important after Covid-19.
The main impact of Covid-19 on the Scumrun format was that instead of the route being secret, we announced that we’d be heading to Ireland, in advance, so teams could plan ahead. The specific route around Ireland, did however, remain secret upholding the longstanding tradition Scumrun has built over the years.
Each day the route cards were given to teams alongside a driver’s briefing of the route and challenges for the day. The 2022 teams had a blast travelling the Wild Atlantic Way, visiting Father Ted’s house, famous sites featured in Game of Thrones, The Ring of Kerry including Dunloe’s Gap and Achille Island to name a few.
This year was an intimate event, with a lot of uncertainty after Covid but our teams managed to raise over £4000 for Chums so far with more donations rolling in as we speak, a great achievement by all.
The 2023 format and dates will be announced soon and registrations will open in 2022. Stay tuned for updates and join our mailing list to get the first sniff. We can’t wait to see you in 2023. Until then, some preparation and sleep.
